Richard Ansdell, R.A. (British, 1815-1885) exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1840-1885.  He painted a wide variety of sporting, animal and romantic narrative subjects.  His animal subjects often rival those of his great contemporary, Sir Edwin Landseer, both in the variety of his subject matter and the detailed finish of his paintings.  This image is entitled A Spaniel with a Woodcock at SunsetThis  portrait is framed in ebony.  The overall size is 11"X13". Designed to fit small spaces and modest budgets.

The picture has been professionally backed with screw-eyes and wire. It has a dust jacket.    Please forgive any glare on the glass in the photo.

Remember, pictures do not have to match to be hung together, just complementary to each other.  Study the extra pictures I have included for samples of wall arrangements.

I use these little prints in a variety of ways, usually to complement larger pictures.  You can stack 2 (one above the other) next to a larger print for balance.  Or you can put them end to end at the bottom of a larger print.  I have been known to group four together either in a perfect square or skewed to a diamond.  Just so there is balance.  I like variety on a wall and mixing larger prints with smaller ones is a dramatic way to do it.

To begin your arrangement, choose the largest or most elaborate or different-shaped item for a FOCAL Point.  Then, do a thumbnail sketch with different shapes of prints around this focal point  until you come up with a pleasing arrangement.  Next is the fun part!  Begin choosing prints to fill in those slots that you have arranged.  Don't forget to include floral arrangements, bell pulls, sculpture or other wall ornamentation.
