We have here a scene of an Arab rug merchant with his wares on display hanging from a palm tree, as he is steeped in his sales pitch to a passing traveler. This piece was originally intended as a table lamp, and the lamp fixture is still evident under the palm fronds. However, the electric wire has been cut off at the base. A half inch of the wire is evident coming out of a hole in the back of the base of the palm tree.

This sculpture was cast as two pieces. The base and palm tree are cast spelter (a zinc alloy), and the carpet is separately cast from bronze. Both the base and the carpet display the "Trademark Coronet Registered Austria" seal.

The piece is 12 inches tall, and maximum width of 7 inches and maximum depth of 6 1/2 inches.
It weighs about 4 lbs 4oz (a bit shy of 2 Kg).
