My mannequin heads were made by Decoeyes (Jerry & Susie) in the U.S.A.  Unfortunately, Jerry has passed away (which makes his exquisite heads no longer available) and I am now in the position that I must sell my collection.  Since Jerry’s mannequin heads were so well made, I found them to be completely addictive and I have a lot of them.  I will be listing them whenever I can, but this will take time.  I used them mainly for photography and many are like new but others have sustained some “bumps and bruises”, which I will describe to the best of my ability and include in the pictures.  These were made of some sort of resin and are nearly unbreakable.  Jerry changed his formula from time to time, so I am not sure which ones I have.  There were ones that were cast in what he called “Waxi-Cast” and I believe I can point those out, as they have a darker complexion than the rest. They were all cast from original mannequin heads of the period and all work was done by hand, including painting and casting.  I actually have one that is old and one that is new (Ivy), and I treasure them both as you can really see how he made his mannequin heads so well.

The name of this mannequin head is Roxie.  This is an exact quote from Decoeyes’ original description of Roxie:

This is a REPLICA of a 1920's department store display bust.  I really like the "machine-age" wedge base (very stable) and symmetrical curls that the original artist imparted into this sculpture...so very late 20s period.....she is my favorite of all the vintage models. She is 13 1/2" tall and has a forehead circumference of approximately 22". Apparel is for display and not included in the final sale.

The primary objective of Decoeyes is to duplicate a historically correct hat and jewelry shop display mannequin true to the golden era of mannequin production (the 1920's through the 1950's).  We work very hard to create a model that closely resembles a new, mint-in-the-box original display from this era.  Our models are cast in the best USA manufactured resins available.  Each is cast, hand-finished, and hand-painted in our shop.

The fantastic original vintage models were originally produced for the purpose of store displays and were never intended for public consumption.  The originals show the marks of handwork and ours impart the same hand-made "flaws"......they are not perfect, each is totally hand-made and exhibits "old school" techniques.

"There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey!" John Ruskin (1819-1900).

Roxie has blonde hair, hand painted light blue eyes, and lovely makeup.   I believe she is made from “Waxi-Cast”, as she has the typical darker complexion and she has the appearance of wax.  She is in excellent condition with just a few minor bumps, hardly worth mentioning.

She is marked on the bottom as follows:  Decoeyes, 10-05-05.  Her name isn’t inscribed but I know she is Roxie.

Decoeyes mannequins are the ONLY ones I know of that are EXACT reproductions of vintage ones.  It's nice to have one of the old ones but they invariably have chips, cracks, have been repainted (sometimes very crudely), and who knows what?  And most are made of plaster, which isn't nearly as durable as the resin that was used by Decoeyes.  I’m sure you will love this mannequin head, as I did for so many years!
