Prometheus  (2012)

A science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott, written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelofs. It is set in the late 21st century and centers on the crew of the spaceship Prometheus as it follows a star map discovered among the artifacts of several ancient Earth cultures. Seeking the origins of humanity, the crew arrives on a distant world and discovers a threat that could cause the extinction of the human species. 

It was shot in England, Iceland, Spain, and Scotland. It grossed over $403 million worldwide, a financial success. Reviews praised both the film's visual aesthetic design and the acting, most notably Fassbender's performance as the android David. It won several industry awards. A sequel, Alien: Covenant, was released in 2017.
