This listing is a Lovely, One-of-a-Kind Handmade 33" NATIVE AMERICAN DOUBLE-STRAND DENTALIA AND 2MM  BLACK AND YELLOW GLASS PONY BEADS  WITH BROWN LEATHER NECK STRIP NECKLACE.  Native American Origin, this One Piece Necklace is Handmade by an un-named Native American Yurok Artisan.  The Yurok are Native to the Extreme Northern California Coastal Region.  The Necklace is Vintage-era, 1970's and likely Unworn.  We've listed it as "Pre-Owned" because there are some areas with minor discoloration and loose strands that are likely attributed to age and possible breakage of a few Dentalium Shells.  Fairly Lightweight, the Necklace weighs 1.0oz/29g.  The 2 individual Strands are strung from each end of the Leather  Strip using Black Twine and knotted. There is beginning light fraying to the exposed Black Twine.  The 2 1/2"x1/2" Brown Leather Strip is still soft with minor age wear.  The Strands are descending with the longer Strand being 33" around, the shorter 31 1/2"; the Necklace has a 15" total drop.  Each Strand has exposed Black Twine from the Leather Strip--1/2" and 1" and 1 1/4" on each side.  It is unknown if the Necklace was strung this way or if perhaps a Dentalia Shell broke.  Since the pattern doesn't appear disturbed, it is thought that it could be a bit of both--that there is some "give" to the Necklace and a few Dentalia may have minor breakage.  The slim Dentalia range in size from approx. 3/4"-1 1/4".  Because they are Shell some do have natural imperfections including some with minor "chipping" at the larger ends.  As mentioned, a few may have had small breakage.  The Pony Beads are approx. 2mm.  Being hand-blown glass, there are minor variations to the size and shape of the Beads.  The Strands appear to follow a uniform pattern of 5 Beads; Dentalia; 5 Beads; Dentalia...and so on.  The 5 Beaded pattern is 2 Yellow, 1 Black, 2 Yellow, which is the pattern on both Strands.  Please look at the many photos taken so you can get a good look at all of the aspects of this Lovely Item.  Because the Necklace has been stored for some time, the Beadwork may be a bit crooked--it's just a matter of twisting around a few of the Beads and Shells to "straighten" it--we've done a bit of "twisting", you may want to "twist" a bit more, which will keep your Unique, One-of-a-Kind Necklace Beautiful whenever you wear it.  Very Pretty, lightweight Black and Yellow Beaded Native American Necklace that is a real Vintage Standout.  We have an Excellent Variety of BEADED/SHELL & STONE NECKLACES listed, many from the same Artisan--all Necklaces are One-of-a-Kind; many are Vintage and Unworn.  Please feel free to ask ???'s prior to purchasing; our response time is usually fast.  Item comes from a home shared w/kitties & a puppy.
