"Stone fruit has been a popular decorative items for many
generations. "Stone" is often used as a generic term which can mean
many things. Some fruit is hand carved from alabaster, a form of marble.
Some "stone" has been hand molded using alabaster/marble dust.
Some is cast from plaster and some is cold cast. “Stone” fruit made
from alabaster/marble tends to be quite heavy and cold to the touch. This is a nice example of an alabaster banana. It is heavy and cold to the touch, obviously carved from alabaster/marble. About 5 1/2" long. Nice condition with a few scuff marks and chips on the stem.
