You are bidding on very rare doll! This is an 11" German Bild Lilli doll, which was the inspiration for Barbie. These dolls are hard to come by these days, and the 11" Barbie size is even harder to find. Most of the Bild Lilli dolls are blonde, so to find a Brunette, especially in this size, is truly a rare find! Bild Lilli was a comic strip character in Germany in the 1950's, and the doll was often sold in taverns and tobacco shops as she was considered quite racy for the time. She came in two sizes, 11 and 7 inches and this is the desirable larger 11" inch doll with similar size to the first Barbie. Brunette ponytail with one little curl in the front. Her hair ribbon is not original, and there is a rubber band under it. She has molded earrings and shoes which are painted black. She has lovely face paint. She does have one small scratch on her forehead which I have tried to capture in a picture below. She does have a swivel head and is jointed at the shoulders and hips. Body is nice and clean, but she does have some scratches in her paint on her legs in several spots. These are faint and I never noticed them until I started to examine her closely for her description. When I removed her clothes I did find a thin crack down one side. I have a picture of that below as well. There are a few spots on her back. These dolls were not a high quality doll when they were made in the 1950's and many times the painting is not great. Her face really is lovely. She does have most of her fingernail polish intact. It looks like a little of the black paint used to paint her shoes may have gotten on her inner foot area. She is wearing an original Bild Lilli outfit. This is a white knit top with matching shorts. It is not pure white any longer, but actually still looks good. The top has the PRYM snaps. She came to me wearing a flashy red belt and I am not sure if this is original to the doll or not, but the top and shorts are just the tight and sexy clothes you expect to see on this doll. Overall, a wonderful rare doll which displays beautifully. In summary: She does have some fine scratches in her paint, primarily on her legs and one tiny scratch on the forehead. There is a hairline crack on one side of the torso. Her hair is very nice, but the ponytail was redone with a rubberband at some point, and her face paint is great. Nice blush and the lips are painted very well, which is not always the case with these dolls. She does come in original clothes which can be very hard to find. Please be sure to take a look at the pictures below for more detail on this item. The pictures should enlarge if you click on them. If you have questions, or need additional pictures please feel free to email. This is truly a wonderful doll to add to a collection!
