Often there is an immediate defence mechanism that kicks in when you mention high mileage, a sort of subliminal justification to turn negative into positive, in this case, no mitigation is required because the only question one has to ask is, does it suit my budget, any question related to the car itself is, trust me, bordering on irrelevant. I have had several QP’s with 20k on the clock that don’t come close to this car in terms of condition, I can’t do anything about the mileage even though even I have a double take, 35,000 miles a year, day one print, never left Maranello Egham, put it into perspective, doesn’t need its first MOT until the end of the year and it is covered with Ferrari/Maserati bumper to bumper warranty until the 13.12.13. Powered by the perennial Ferrari 430 V8, detuned for political reasons to 430bhp, with a proper gearbox, is there a better looking 4 door supercar in this price range, if there is, I haven’t seen it yet. Ideal if you want a spare exotic for occasional use and don’t want to spend fortunes. The car is pre booked into Maranello on the 05.05.13, that is the earliest date we can get, estimated at 1600 pounds to schedule, believe me, the service records are unbelievable. Being objective, I often ask myself the question, would I buy it, well obviously I did but, the answer is a simple YES, YES because it’s so new, YES because it has done such easy work and YES because it has manufacturer’s warranty, couple that with the fact that I doubt I would do 3k a year in it and YES, it is a very viable proposition at this price level, start talking about 55-60k for similar albeit lower mileage examples and I wouldn’t feel as comfortable long term.
