Sir Humphry Davy (17 décembre 1778 à Penzance, Cornouailles, Angleterre - 29 mai 1829 à Genève), 1er baronnet, est un physicien et chimiste britannique.

Il isola le sodium, le potassium, le baryum, le strontium et le calcium grâce à l'électrolyse en 1807 et 1808. Il est également l'inventeur de la lampe de sûreté à toile métallique pour les mineurs, dite lampe Davy, pour la prévention des explosions dues au grisou ou au poussier.

He isolated sodium, potassium, barium, strontium and calcium through electrolysis in 1807 and 1808. He is also the inventor of the safety lamp for miners wire, called Davy lamp, for the prevention of explosions caused by firedamp or coal dust.
