ANTIQUE FRENCH MAJOLICA ASPARAGUS & ARTICHOKES PLATTER SALINS 1880-1900
The Salins les Bains manufacture was fouded in 1857 in an old "CAPUCINS" abbay in the Jura in the east of France
The scalloped tuquoise edge is decorated with a large basketware border in a butter colour.
The middle of the platter is molded like a cradle made of embossed asparagus.
Each end of the platter is scooped out to recover asparagus water and decorated with asparagus leaves.
Beautiful braided handles.
Marked in hollow 6 on the back with the black mark of the painter.
You can see the same platter in the reference book of Maryse Bottero "Artichauts et Asperges en barbotine"
The platter is 16 3/16 inches long, almost 9 7/16 wide in the middle , 2 3/4 height at the cradle.
