Lumen - a unit of standard measurement that is used to describe the amount of light contained in an area as perceived by the human eye. The more lumens, the brighter the light. You can use lumens to compare the brightness of any bulb, regardless of the technology behind it, and regardless of whether it's incandescent, CFL or LED.

Luminous Flux - the flow of light measured in lumens. With light bulbs, it provides an estimate of the apparent amount of light the bulb will produce.

In practical application, when buying a light bulb, we should look for bulbs which produce more light but consumes less energy. Understanding lumens as a measure of brightness makes it easier to select the most efficient bulb for your application.

CRI - The color rendering index is a quantitative measure of the ability of a light to reveal the colors of various objects faithfully in comparison with an ideal or natural light source. Color refers to the comparison with the reference light source such as sunlight or firelight, a light source appear on an objectis the color "true" measure of performance. In was measuring light lighting objects of color and reference light color meet degree of metric, unit measured in Ra. General color rendering index has maximum value of 100Ra.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Our bulbs are available in various colour temperatures measured in Kelvins which translates into different types of white light. For example, incandescent light bulbs have typically 2700-3300K which is treated as warm white.

The difference between warm white (or soft white) light bulbs and cool white (or daylight) bulbs lies in the quality of light that each emits. Manufacturers measure quality of light, and if you possess a basic understanding of the concept, you'll match the appropriate light bulb to a particular task or location in a residential or business setting.

Depending on your needs and preferences, you may choose specific colours so each room has its own character i.e. warm light for the living room while cooler one for the bathrooms or kitchens.

What is LED?

LED is a light-emitting diode (LED) product that it could be assembled into a lamp (or light bulb) for use in lighting fixtures. LED lamps have a lifespan and electrical efficiency that is several times better than incandescent lamps, and significantly better than most fluorescent lamps, with some chips able to emit more than 100 lumens per watt.

Like incandescent lamps and unlike most fluorescent lamps (e.g. tubes and CFL), LED lights come to full brightness without need for a warm-up time; the life of fluorescent lighting is also reduced by frequent switching on and off.

Key facts about LED:

• LEDs can last for up to 50,000 hours, compared with the 1,000 hours of traditional incandescent light-bulbs and compact fluorescent lamps' (CFLs) 15,000 hours.
• The technology is also much more energy efficient, using up to 90% less energy than incandescent bulbs.
• LED light bulbs are more efficient than traditional, incandescent ones because there is less energy loss through heat.
• LEDs are made from a semiconductor material, and are able to emit much more light for the same amount of electricity.
• LEDs are made in solid state technology - they have no moving parts, no filament breakage.
• The long lifespans and low energy use make LEDs economically attractive because the running and maintenance bills are lower.
• LEDs are the most efficient light source currently available, and are increasingly used in domestic, commercial and automotive applications.
• LEDs are the next generation in home lighting.

Why LED?

• LED Bulb is both energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, as it does not contain mercury or lead like CFLs do and therefore make safe disposal difficult.
• Healthy light: No ultraviolet and infrared radiation.
• Incandescent bulbs and CFL bulbs are more easily broken than LEDs, which increases their cost of use.
• Traditional light bulbs pass electricity through a filament, which results in energy being released as both heat and light, leading to a lot of heat being wasted.
• LED bulbs used in fixtures inside the home save electricity, remain cool and save money on replacement costs since LED bulbs last so long.
• CFL's compact fluorescent light is designed to provide maximum light output at 25C, and when it gets hotter or colder than that, its brightness can be reduced.
• If CFL bulb is in a recessed fixture in the ceiling, and it gets warm, you might see a 10-20% reduction in its light output. • Studies show CFL bulbs can get 20% dimmer over time.
• Traditional bulbs expend about 95% of their energy producing heat.

Isn't LED expensive?! LED is an investment - not just an expense!!!
