SANSUI AU-919 INTEGRATED AMPLIFIER
EXCELLENT CONDITION. - COMES WITH RACK HANDLES.

*

You are looking at an incredibly rare monster integrated amplifier from Sansui - The Sansui AU-919, I don't even know where to begin with this machine but I will try my best to describe just exactly how perfect this unit is.

This is the phenomenal Sansui Integrated Straight DC Stereo Amplifier with Exclusive DD/DC Power/Phono Amps and MC Amp. Sansui engineers have perfected the Straight DC circuitry of the AU-919 Integrated Stereo Amplifier right down to the very last superlative. Fastest rise time, highest slew rate, lowest TIM or Transient Intermodulation Distortion are not the least on the list. Then there are the words which describe its phono equalizer and flat amp - cleanest, quietest and definitely the purest.

Add the fact that the Diamond Differential DC circuit in the power amp and phono equalizer offers one of the widest frequency ranges ever achieved in audio - extending from zero Hz (DC) to an amazing supersonic high of 500,000Hz - and you have some of the reasons the AU-919 delivers the purest musical performance you've ever heard.

It's an absolute true classic! The Sansui AU-919 was Sansui's top integrated amplifier of 1979. It had world beating sound quality and achieved a "Recommended" rating in Hi-Fi Choice (a once well respected British Hi-Fi buying guide). The new price in 1979 was a hefty £480 in the UK - this was true high-end. For a stereo amplifier engineered to the same standards with a similar level of performance today you would have to pay in the region of £1900 to £2400.

The sound quality would be best described as outstanding: powerful, smooth, very natural and slightly warm while still providing plenty of punch and detail. The moving magnet and moving coil phono stages are incredibly good. It sounds very musical and is so so easy to listen to for long periods.

Like all Sansui's amplifiers and tuners manufactured in the late 1970's the AU-919 has a thick aluminium front panel painted in matt black. When new, the AU-919 was supplied with professional style rack mounting handles to allow mounting into a 19" equipment rack. The rack handles are attached to the sides of the unit by two screws and are of course detachable.

A thermally-matched dual-FET (Field Effect Transistor) in a differential arrangement forms the input circuit in each section of the power amplifier section creating a capacitor-less true DC ("Direct Coupled") design. The second stage is Sansui's "Diamond Differential DC" circuit while the third stage is a current differential push-pull driver amp. Sansui claimed that this circuit configuration permitted an extraordinary large amount of drive current to be applied to the final output, resulting in excellent slew rate, rise time and Total Inter-modulation Distortion. The final output stage has a three stage Darlington-connected parallel push-pull OCL (Output Capacitor-Less) configuration.

The AU-919 has five separate power supplies. One supplies the class-A pre-amp, and is formed of an El-core transformer and a precision constant voltage circuit. Two others, formed of an El-core transformer and a precision active filter circuit serve the class-A left and right pre-drivers. The fourth and fifth, each using a toroidal power transformer with separate coil windings, feed current to the class-B reft and right drivers. output stages. To keep the power reserve capacity high for the plentiful delivery of power on demand, four 15,000 micro Farad oval-shaped capacitors are used.

The AU-919 wasn't the cheapest integrated amp on the market and you can see why, at a modest 100 watts per channel, it isn't the most powerful. But I and many others are convinced that for the serious audiophile who really cares about sound quality, and who is willing to make an investment in truly state-of-the-art equipment designed for nothing less than perfect, uncolored, dynamic audio performance, the AU-919 deserves the most superlative of all - The Finest.

All in all, I can not stress how much this will improve your days and nights listening to music.. It has been the conversation piece to many visitors at my home when they have heard the noise this makes. You get an absolute pure clarity output, and no matter what you throw at it, you can guarantee this can handle it. Bass is handled with ease and it genuinely puts a meaning to the phrase " sound is imagined ".

The condition of the amplifier is a fantasic.. The cabinet is in mint condition and is nice and shiny. The outside is free from damage, All switches work perfectly, Please note : The speaker terminals have since been replaced from the ones that are on the photos, The originals had a problem with the springs and would not accept the speaker cable, The new ones work perfectly and was fixed by www.praudio.co.uk. Inside is also clean and free from any damage as you can see by the photos. - I am also including the rack handles in the sale of this amplifier. The AU-919 is also Multi Voltage.

Please take 10-15 minutes to google the reviews of this incredible amplifier. You will find nothing but the highest of praise for what is a phenomenal machine. This is your chance to grab a real gem.
