BRAND NEW LGB # 23191 Mogul Steam Locomotive with a custom installation of the following brand new components:  LGB #55021 MTS/DCC/DC Decoder and Phoenix Big Sound PB11v6 Digital Mogul Locomotive Sound System installed in the tender using a large 3 1/2 inch Phoenix speaker.   This LGB Mogul locomotive and tender were manufactured in Germany by the original LGB company and factory.  Operating Features: LGB MTS/DCC or DC power with directional lighting between the locomotive headlight and the tender's taillight, flickering firebox, and smoke unit.  The Phoenix sound system operates using real Mogul locomotive sounds that can be controlled and turned on/off and lights turned on/off under MTS/DCC power. Smoke unit controlled on/off by factory switch in back of locomotive.  Sound Capabilities:  Whistle (individual blast control or standard crossing blast); bell; coupler clank; brake screech; blow down; steam release; generator; air-pump; rod clank; hiss; coal shoveling; injector; water filling; coal filling.   Phoenix digital sound systems are one of the most reliable, versatile, top quality available, and with their programmable features, are superior to the LGB factory-installed generic steam sound units.  I've been using Phoenix units for over 20 years with no circuit board failures.

When operating under DC power (not MTS/DCC), the circuit board uses a self-charging battery to activate the loco's idle sounds below 6 volts power, and to also  continue the sounds for 30 seconds after turning off the power supply to the loco, and then will shut down the sound.......provides more realistic start up and shut down sounds.  Also operating on DC power,  the bell and whistle are activated with track magnets from the LGB #65012 Sound Function Trigger unit installed onto one of the tender's wheel sets.  Chuff sounds are activated in MTS/DCC/DC power by the Phoenix speed sensor (reed switch) installed on the tender's second truck.  Note:  I will provide the buyer with four track magnets for DC operations that are held in place with removable "poster-tak" adhesive.  A track magnet placed on the left side of a track tie of the loco's movement direction will active the bell sound; a magnet placed on the right side of a track tie will activate the whistle.

The sounds on the Phoenix Sound board can be custom adjusted/modified using a Phoenix computer interface unit and your PC using connecting plug on the tender next to the fireman; you can also download and install into the sound board a different locomotive operating sound, if desired, that's available free from the Phoenix Website.  Sound volume and on/off can also be adjusted using either your MTS/DCC controller or the Phoenix-furnished toggle lever installed under the tender.  This LGB locomotive version is unlettered/unnumbered but comes with a set of decals with various road names you can affix onto the tender yourself, if desired.  In my opinion, this locomotive model looks more like the real 1800s era logging locomotives that had little if any lettering.  The locomotive also comes with a gold colored bell to affix on top of the locomotive boiler that's in a sealed pouch in the box.

The installed LGB Decoder contains Back-EMF Circuitry that provides the locomotive with steady speed on curves and grades.  Comes with the original LGB box and the following owner's manuals:  LGB 23191 Locomotive; Phoenix Sound System; and LGB MTS/DCC/DC #55021 Decoder.  The LGB Decoder and Phoenix Sound System have manufacture's warranties.

This LGB locomotive is brand new and has only been operated to test the installation of the LGB decoder and Phoenix sound system.  If you have any questions about the features of the locomotive or tender's features and sound system, please send me an eBay message.  I also have a short iPhone video of the locomotive operating with the digital sound system sounds I can send you by return email attachment.......see my eBay Store for email address.

The unboxed locomotive weighs 7 pounds; the unboxed tender weighs 3 pounds.  Shipping will normally be within the USA by FedEx Ground/Home Delivery with the cost included for Full Value Insurance and Delivery Signature Receipt to protect the shipment from loss or damage.   For Alaska and Hawaii locations USPS Parcel Select Insured will generally be much cheaper than FedEx.  USPS Priority Mail Insured shipping available for additional costs if you want to receive the item in 2 - 3 business days.  Note:   FedEx Smart Post would be a cheaper shipping mode but I do not use it since the the maximum insurance value available is only $100 for any item shipped.
