Hi, this auction is for (2) 36L JourneyRider aluminum motorcycle panniers.

The unique thing about my panniers is the latching system.

The high quality stainless locking latch can also act as  hinge, so you can pick and choose which side of the pannier that you want to have open. You can also take the lid off of the pannier. Being able to remove the lid on your pannier is a great feature. It can be frustrating trying to unpack/pack a densely loaded pannier when you can not remove the lid to get it out of the way. When camping, the top of the lid makes a tray table for food preparation/ eating. Also, if you ever have a good crash where the pannier hits a rock and bends, it is much easier to fix a latch than it is to fix a hinge.

There was a lot of engineering that went into this latch system and getting the fitment to be perfect. It is not something that would be easy to copy in a garage.

An advantage to JourneyRider's Tynda panniers is the way the beveled bottoms and lids are made. For the production of them they use a mold (positive plus negative) made of a special very hard cast iron alloy that will not suffer wear & tear when thousands and thousands of aluminum sheets are forced into/over it to press them into their particular shape. Over time TIG welds will break, as I witnessed on the lids and bottoms of Tiberio's panniers. Overall, his panniers held up great but I am glad that Tynda panniers will not have this problem, so you will not need to go searching for a TIG welder in rural Latin America or for the few welders in the USA who still do quality small job repair work at reasonable prices.

The good thing about these panniers is they will not fall apart. They will hold up in a crash well and protect your body. In 2007 I did a 30k mile motorcycle trip from the States to Argentina. While on the trip I told myself that I would design the perfect set of aluminum panniers for adventure trips when I got home.
