FIBHORN speakers are for people who are passionate about audio performance. They are for people who love music and want their recordings to sound as live, colorful and exciting as at the moment the recording was made. Our new Model 4a with the TANG BAND W4-1320SIF driver will give you the "best seat in the house" every time you listen.

FIBHORN speakers are unique in design; to our knowledge they are the only speakers that employ an expanding sequence of Fibonacci chambers to amplify and equalize the driver's back wave. Our new Model 4a now has every internal mathematical computation for the complex horn fitted perfectly to the Fibonacci sequence. WE CAN HEAR THE DIFFERENCE THIS MAKES! And so will you: enormous sense of space with "wall-to-wall" soundstage, sweet and extended high frequencies and articulate textured bass that goes deep (well below 40 hz.)

THE DRIVER

We were delighted with the performance of the TANG BAND W4-1320SIF: smooth, deep and very natural. Sensitivity is high enough for medium-loud playback with single end tube amplifiers (we love our 6BQ5s with the 4a). It has real power and dynamic capability without any exaggeration. The bass is blessedly free of false resonance. Lateral dispersion was judged to be excellent, maintaining a good stage image even far off-center.

THE CABINET

There are 4 Fibonacci (or "Golden Ratio") chambers inside; the first one serves as a compression chamber for the back wave, and the signal is then "bled" into the first of 3 progressively expanding Fibonacci chambers. It emerges through the final vent on the front panel and conjoins with the front wave of the cone. The cabinet is NOT a simple box, with a tuned port, as in most of our competition. Please keep in mind that every musical pitch falls on the Fibonacci curve and these mathematical relationships must be honored or the design will suffer from random dropouts and exaggerations that will damage the sound.

We spend time rounding-over every square edge, filling all sharp corners and stipple texturing all 180 degree opposed surfaces. Our listening tests confirm this is a better technique for perfecting the response potential than the mere use of absorbent  padding.

The material is .5" MDF. There is much internal bracing due to the multi-chamber design. You can add sand to a cabinet void for further spurious vibration suppression; a small but noticeable change will be perceived thereby.

The matched symmetrical pair has a black brushed satin body with a front panel in Slate Blue. The bottom of the front has an oiled hardwood bass coupler to effect a transition from the front panel vent to the room. Shiny brass screws add a touch of luxury.

INSTALLATION and USE

The Model 4a is intended as a bookshelf speaker and the bass response is somewhat dependent on height from the floor. We find 36" yields the flattest and most accurate bass, but that is just us. You may install them on stands, but please consider our Model 5 for floor installation. The 5 has an identical interior configuration as the 4a, but is a dedicated floor model at lower cost than a pair of 4a's plus stands.

You should "break-in" the speakers for at least 50 hours before making a critical evaluation.

WARRANTY & RETURN POLICY

You may return the speakers for a full refund within 14 days if you do not like them. You pay only for return shipping.

The warranty is for 5 years, parts and labor. Fused voice coils from excessive power are NOT covered. Please . . . no block parties.

SHIPPING

The cost of shipping via USPS (insured) is included in the price to the continental 48 USA only. Alaska, Hawaii and foreign countries must pay a shipping surcharge.
