Description

A superb introduction set to the incredible world of computer control by Hornby.  This set includes the amazing ‘eLink’ digital unit which when connected to a PC or laptop and with the ‘RailMaster’ software loaded provides control access to 9999 locomotives and in excess of 2000 electrical accessories and points.

Included in the set is a GWR Class 2721, an assortment of wagons plus an oval of track with siding which can be easily extended using the Hornby Track Pack system. (PC not included).

Internet activation required to access all RailMaster features.

 Young or old, keen modeller or just a beginner, the Hornby RailRoad range answers the needs of many and is a perfect complement to the variety of locomotives, rolling stock, track, buildings, and accessories that can be found in the current Hornby catalogue. Devoid of easily damaged detail parts the suitably livered RailRoad locomotives are fitted with efficient drive mechanisms and have pickups on all drive wheels ensuring smooth running. All the RailRoad models are fitted with the standard Hornby hook and bar type couplings and will therefore easily couple to those locomotives and rolling stock in both the standard Hornby and Thomas & Friends ranges. With this in mind it is easy to see that those models that make up the Hornby RailRoad range are a simple and cost effective way of adding to a train set providing a suitable and most appropriate stepping stone into the varied and fascinating World of model railways.

The introductory range offers not only a selection of individual locomotives, rolling stock and accessories but an assortment of train and wagon packs ideally suited for either train set rolling stock enhancements or for those who wish to experiment and try their hands at developing their modelling techniques!

This DCC Ready locomotive is compatible with analogue train layouts, but can easily be converted for use on a DCC (digital) layout. This loco is 'DCC Ready', meaning they feature a special socket ready to receive a DCC Decoder. To convert this locomotive for use on a DCC layout one of the following digital decoder chips are required; R8245 Sapphire Decoder or R8249 V1 3 NMRA Loco Decoder. Once this decoder is fitted it is ready to use on a DCC layout.

Digital control (DCC) has many advantages over the conventional DC control, however arguably the most dramatic bonus of operating DCC must be the advantages of Operating locomotives fitted with sound. How wonderfully alive can a layout become when sound can be heard from the locomotives? What can be more evocative than the sound of West Country locomotive pulling a full rake of teak coaches, running at full throttle with its whistle blowing as it rushes through a station? Or the sound of coal being shovelled as a Merchant Navy class locomotive sits patiently building up a head of steam ready to move off once the West Country has passed through. All this is possible with Hornby Digital Sound fitted locomotives.

Hornby Railways is a brand of model railway originating in the United Kingdom. Its roots date back to 1901, when founder Frank Hornby received a patent for his Meccano construction toy. The first clockwork train was produced in 1920. In 1938, Hornby launched its first 00 gauge train. In 1964, Hornby and Meccano were bought by their competitor Tri-Ang and sold on when Tri-ang went into receivership. In the 1980s Hornby Railways became independent.

You have 30 days from the date of purchase to either cancel or return your order.

In the event of a cancellation, we urge you to cancel your order as soon as possible, we would suggest within 1-2 hours, because it is likely that we can then retrieve the item before it is despatched. However, if the item has already been shipped our policy is to reimburse the cost of the product and you will be charged for postage on the original order and its safe return at your own cost. We reserve the right to charge a 10% re-stocking fee.

Faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods are replaced at our cost. Please contact us as above to discuss the order. We may request that you forward us a photograph of the goods and packaging or return of the goods to our warehouse - at our cost.

All returned goods should be sent in the original packaging if intact or other secure packaging, along with original invoice, an explanation of the reason for return and state if exchange or refund is requested. Items should generally be sent using standard postal services, please ensure correct postage is applied and 'signed-for' delivery is strongly recommended. For a full product refund, goods must be received in perfect, unopened condition with seals and shrink-wrap intact. Please contact us to discuss packaging and postage options.

Refunds will be made back to your Card or PayPal account (depending on how you paid) when the goods are safely received back by us - and should be visible within a few days following our processing of the refund.
