Great Denazified Gold Wound Badge by the firm of Hauptmunzamt Wien, as indicated by their manufacturer code 30 on reverse. Zinc construction, most the of gold finish has absorbed into the metal but traces are still visible on the rim and reverse. The gold grade was awarded for troops who received 5 or more wounds in combat, so whoever earned this saw some action. Denazification of these badges occurred for several reasons...some were done by POWs to keep their awards, some to wear post war after 1957, and many to conform with the allied post war deNazification of Germany.
