About Ridley Helium SL Frameset - 1518AM

The Ridley Helium SL is a superlight carbon road bike frameset with a superb combination of strength, light weight and stiffness. Weighing just 780 grams (medium) this frame is perfect for climbing the biggest mountains, and is equally at home as a race bike. The rigid bottom bracket transfers the riders pedaling power to the back wheel with maximum efficiency, while the pencil thin seatstays soak up road buzz to produce a gloriously comfortable ride.

Team Lotto-Belisol use the Ridley Helium SL as their main weapon of choice. In the 2014 Tour De France Tony Gallopin wore the Maillot Jaune on Bastille Day and won Stage 11 in the Alps riding a Helium SL. Adam Hansen has ridden it to finish his 9th consecutive Grand Tour and it probably won't be his last. The Bikebug NextGen Womens team also ride the Helium SL and have produced excellent results and race wins in the 2014 Australian NRS.

The Ridley Helium SL is also a superb training bike where the lightweight carbon frame gives a beautifully smooth compliant ride. It's a real sleeper of a bike and we have yet to find a rider, including local and international journalists, who hasn't been blown away by the quality of the Helium SL.  It's such a great bike that Ridley have changed nothing more than the paintwork for 2015. If you could have the option to choose any bike then this should probably be it. In fact it is the bike of choice for many Bikebug staff members. Say no more!

More About The Manufacturer Ridley

Ridley Bikes was started in 1997 by Jochim Aerts, a frame builder and painter who had been producing frames for Belgian bicycle companies since 1990. In a few short years, Ridley became the market leader in Belgium for racing bikes. It has always been a key part of Ridley's product development to create a strong alliance with their teams, not just providing them with bikes, but working on a very close basis with the riders and the team mechanics to develop their models. The sponsored teams compete on ‘stock’ frames which enables Ridley to test under extreme riding conditions. This is Ridley's core development program to ensure that a well refined product is launched to their customers. Feedback from the teams fuels the next generation of Ridley bikes.
