A Canvas transfer is created from a print through a process that lifts the ink and image from the paper and transfers it directly onto artist quality canvas. If done properly, the result is a stunning reproduction of the original artwork that has the appearance of an original oil painting. The process of creating a canvas transfer is complex and is performed by highly skilled artisans with years of training.

Durability
Differing from traditional paper art prints, a canvas transfer has a lifespan as long as any original painting or work of art. They can easily be dusted and cleaned with a damp cloth, giving years of use and enjoyment.

Easily Framed
Since there is no need to cover a canvas transfer with glass or to even mat these items, having your canvas  transfer framed is easy and cost effective. A good selection of wood mouldings are available for framing your canvas transfer online.

Brushwork
A canvas transfer can be further enhanced through the application of brushwork. Brushwork authentically
reproduces brush strokes present on the original artwork. During the application of brushwork, clear acrylic paint is applied to the canvas in order to simulate the brushstrokes present on the original painting. This process adds visual and textural depth to the transfer. Brushwork enhances the vibrancy and realism of a canvas transfer.
The application of brushwork is complex and should be performed by experienced artisans.

The Last Supper

Da Vinci's Last Supper has become one of the most widely appreciated masterpieces in the world. It began to acquire its unique reputation immediately after it was finished in 1498 and its prestige has never diminished. Despite the many changes in tastes, artistic styles, and rapid physical deterioration of the painting itself, the painting's status as an extraordinary creation has never been questioned nor doubted.

The perfection of this work lies not only in the artistic merits of the painting, but also in Leonardo's expressive mastery. Leonardo's Last Supper is an ideal pictorial representation of the most important event in the Christian doctrine of salvation - the institution of the Eucharist. His representation of this part of the Christian story has achieved a unanimous acceptance and authority. No other painting of a Christian subject dominates our imagination with the same power of Da Vinci's Last Supper. There are countless copies and reproductions of this particular painting in homes, places of worship, and museums throughout the world. However, when thoughts turn to the Last Supper, we seem to see only Leonardo's representation before us.

The painting has also been subject to much attention due to the number of restorations it has had to face since its completion in the fifteenth century. The most recent restoration lasted twenty years and has been the subject of much controversy. The painting that remains so influential has been frequently referred to as "repainted", not "restored". However, restoration has been an ongoing reality with this masterpiece due to unprecedented manner in which Leonardo painted it. Although restoration may have altered Leonardo's painting to a degree, it has prolonged the life of this painting for future generations to appreciate and view.

At Knightstrokes I have perfected the canvas transfer process.  We begin with a fine art paper reproduction and seal the colors in acrylic. The colors are transferred from the paper onto artist grade canvas to capture the canvas texture. Artists enhance the surface with acrylic brush strokes and seal the replica for preservation. You have the opportunity to own a replica of a Monet, Hicks, Van Gogh or from any one of the hundreds of the Master Painters of the world.  Every canvas replicas is Mounted and installed into a high quality wood frame.
