DESCRIPTION:

A solid ebony wood ring stand with a sterling silver embellishment. The silver has a vacant cartouche surrounded with decorative engravings and is hallmarked London 1920. It measures 3.75 inches tall, 2.5 inches in diameter and has 'EBONY' stamped to the base.

This extremely slow growing hardwood was imported from British India and was a popular vanity set material with both men and women from around the turn of the century to the mid 1920s, when the timber became too rare and expensive to be economically viable. These ebony relics of the period have been highly prized ever since.

CONDITION:

The silver is in excellent condition with no missing fixing pins. The ebony is in perfect condition with no chips or cracks, it has a very high polish.
