~  Royal Air Force Museum History Of Man In Flight Silver Medallions ~

The set was issued in 1973 to raise funds for the RAF museum.  They were available by advance subscription only which closed on the 30th November 1972 with a limit of one set per subscriber.

The album contains 50 solid sterling silver medals, 10 per page. The medals are individually encased in a pop-out clear container ensuring that they are kept in mint condition. Each medal has a beautiful pictorial engraving on one side with a description on the reverse.

All have a London silver hallmark to the edge.

All the medals are in excellent condition. Only one of the medals 'First Telegraphic Communication Air to Ground 1861' has some small tarnishing as this one has been opened out of its case before.

Each medal weighs: 39.7 grams of Sterling .925 silver. So, a lot of silver in this set.

The album is 35cm (13.75 inches) tall by 25cm (10 inches) wide by 5cm (2 inches) deep.

Each medal is 4.4cm (1.75 inches) across.

Each medal weighs approximately 1.2 Troy ounces (39.7g) giving a total silver weight of 60 Troy Oz.

The album weighs 4.3 Kg in total.

~ Condition ~

The medals are in mint condition. The album cover has some very small scuffs.
