Tamron 70-210mm 52A Telephoto Zoom Lens

Specifications

The Tamron adaptal system was an ingenious range of lenses that were popular in the 1980's and 90's in that it allowed lenses to fit a wide range of different camera brands merely by adding a different adaptor plate.

The Adaptal (AD) and Superior Performance (SP) ranges consisted of about 40 lenses covering a huge range of focal lengths and apertures.

Each lens had a "core" Tamron profile at the rear which, in itself, would not fit any camera whatsover - rather you would add a mounting adaptor plate of the brand associated to your camera and this would allow connectivity as with any other lens.

A useful guide to the Adaptal system can be founbd here:

Item for sale

The item for sale here is the 52A Model 70-210mm F3.5/4 Zoom lens.  This was quite a step up over the AD telephoto zooms and at F3.5/4 offered a faster aperture to boot - a really nice lens.

Its in really nice condition all round - the bodywork is lovely and clean - the glass free of any major issues (some very light dust but all lenses of this age do) and its silky smooth in operation.

It comes from the Tamron SP range (SP meaning Superior Performance) and When used on any of the run-of-the-mill current reduced-sensor digital SLR's (be it Canon, Nikon, or Pentax etc) this lens will equate to very roughly an 105-315mm telephoto...........capable of some amazing work from distance, be it sports, wildlife or general shots.

All you need do is add an AD2 adapter to suit your camera, these are widely available on ebay and cost very little.   No adaptor is supplied as part of this sale - it is lens ONLY.

Manual focus only folks - works in Manual Exposure Mode on virtually all SLR's and also in Aperture Priority mode on others (if the latter is important to you please check BEFORE buying).   On a digital SLR metering can naturally be checked via the histogram anyway.
