10 Inch (24.5cm) Metal Statue of Sri Ganesh

Here you have Lord Ganesha (also knows as Ganesh, Ganesa, Ganapati, Vinayaka and Pillaiyar), one of the best-known and loved and most widely worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon. He is seated in the blessing posture.

I'm not sure what metal this good-sized figurine is cast from. It is partially copper-plated and has a good patina.

About Lord Ganesh

First an admission: I am not a Hindu myself but I've always had a soft spot for this most beguiling of deities. Please forgive me if I describe any of this wrongly.

Sri Ganesha is the son of Shiva and Parvati. He has the head of an elephant with a curved trunk and big ears. His body is that of a pot-bellied man. 

Ganapti is the Lord of the Threshold and is often placed at the entrance to bring blessings to all who enter. He is the Lord of Success, the Remover of evil and obstacles and the Lord of Beginnings. He is also worshipped as the God of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth.
