For auction is One Esterbrook Fountain Pen Nib, #2048

The really cool thing is that this fountain pen nib is interchangeable with 33+ others by simply screwing the point out of the pen and screwing a new one back in its place.

The nib offered here is: Esterbrook nib 2048, Flexible fine

This flex point will make your ordinary handwriting look extraordinary.  It is really fun to write with.  The 2048 is one of the  most sought after of all the Estie nibs.

Here’s what you will receive:

1. The nib described above. The nib is mint. In this case mint actually means that they have never been dipped or filled with ink.

2. You will also receive a good copy of the nib chart showing the 33 nibs available during the late 30’s, 40’s, 50's and 60’s with a brief description of each.

3. Finally, you'll receive a copy of filling instructions for about every fountain pen, vintage or new, that I have run across and clear instructions for the care of a fountain pen.

The uniqueness and really big reason that has driven the collectabilty of the pens and nibs (also distinguishing them from nearly all other makers) is that each nib is engineered to easily screw in and out of the section at the top of the barrel anytime and for whatever reason you want. Changing nibs is effortless and requires no experience.

Many Esterbrook users owned 1 pen but bought several different type nibs and changed them out at their pleasure instead of having to take the pen to the pen store or having to send the pen back to the manufacturer when a change was necessary or desirable

The Red and White boxes constitute the 1000 Series and 2000 Series of Esterbrook’s Renew Points, These nibs have, as their writing surface, a continuation of the chrome , rolled up and formed into a writing surface, that the rest of the nib is made of. I have yet to wear one out.

The green boxes constitute the Master Series, or the 9000 Series, which were always more expensive because their writing surface consists of applied Iridium. (They called their particular alloy “Osmiridium.")
