This a rare and exceptional example of the Waterman solid 9 carat gold full-overlay fountain pen in guilloche engine-turned pattern. It is hallmarked and has a blank indicia cartouche (no personal engraving). It dates from somewhere between 1908 and 1926 and the condition is quite superb as can be seen from the photos. Detail shots of the top and bottom show how remarkably well-preserved is this pen. Condition: Excellent with just the smallest of marks on the base, as can be seen in the double-closeup photo. It is otherwise completely free of dents, chips, cracks, scratches, bite marks or even the wear you would expect from any significant amount of use. Filling system: lever/sac compression. Writing character: Exceptionally smooth: good, regular flow. Nib : Medium, solid 18ct gold. Markings: (1) Barrel: 9 carat hallmark with the Waterman 'W'. 2) Nib: Waterman 18CT W-2A Box: Watermans black velour presentation box (not the original).
