Background & History

Falcon of Tutankhamun
Amid numerous masterpieces of Egyptian artistic jewelry discovered in the tomb of Tutankhamun, there were found several necklaces and pectorals bearing the effigy of a falcon. The bird represents Horus, the god of the sky and kingship, whose earthly incarnation was the pharaoh – the ruler of Ancient Egypt. The necklaces in the shape of a falcon were worn as amulets protecting a person against evil forces, calamities and natural disasters. The falcon of Tutankhamun holds in its talons two shen rings – symbols of infinity and eternal protection. In ancient times amber, called the “tears of the Sun”, was a symbol of immortality and rebirth. Did you know that if presented as a gift, it is a token of true friendship?
