This is a lovely example of the renowned Zeiss Tessar 50mm f2.8 lens.

This is a very high quality lens with superb optics and robust metal construction.

The lens has an auto diaphragm, an auto / manual switch and a Pentax/Praktica 42mm screw mount.

This lens is in lovely condition with a black finish. All scale markings are clear and unscratched. Cosmetically there just one or two very minor blemishes. There is one mark on the rear face of the housing (see image) this has absolutely n o effect on the operation of the lens and it is invisible when the lens is mounted.

Functionally the lens is in perfect condition. The optics are completely free from marks, scratches or fungus. The 5 blade diaphragm closes evenly and snaps open and closed correctly. The focusing ring and the aperture ring move smoothly and without excessive play. Focusing is often stiff on these lenses, but this one is fine! The mounting thread and the filter thread are both in perfect condition.

Prime lenses like this one really do give much sharper photos than most zooms. With the correct adapter you can fit this lens to your Digital SLR and get a high quality bright standard lens at a budget price!
