Here we have a Hard-to-Find, Vintage Stanley No. 64 Low-Angle Butcher Block Plane.

Background:  This plane was originally designed to true-up butcher blocks, and being a heavy-duty plane, it is good for rough and finish work on hardwoods.  The low-angle of the cutter, 12 degrees, helps to make it cruise through tough wood with crazy grain.

This hard-to-find plane is in very good used condition(The plane is hard to find because it was offered for only 8 years (1915-1923)).  The sole is 13"L x 2-1/2"W with a 2" Wide cutter.  This plane body was originally supplied with full japanning.  Unusual to see japanning on the side rails but this one still has some left.  With japanning supposed to be everywhere its hard to estimate but I would conservatively say there is 55-65% remaining.  The body is stamped at the toe: No. 64   STANLEY.  The cutter is  the 'V' trademark that was issued starting in 1910.  The large cutter adjusting knob is stamped STANLEY.  The sole and mouth are in very good condition with only a tiny bit of pitting.  Both the knob and tote are the originally issued beech wood items and are in good used condition with no cracks or breaks.   No cracks, breaks or welds in the plane.  Everything fully operational.  No Owner's marks.  Good hard one to find and a good one to add to your Stanley plane collection.  UNBELIEVABLE LOW PRICE FOR A RARE PLANE !!!
