I had, for some time, been watching Jefferson Golden Hour clocks in the US being sold on the web. I wanted one but soon discovered that I needed a different motor to cope with UK electricity. Then I noticed the 'Clockodile'  advert for their specialist repair service for Golden Hour clocks.

 

I contacted Clockodile and asked him if - perhaps - he could buy me a clock in the US, service it and provide the correct motor to work in the UK. He said he would look around for a nice one. After a few weeks he had the clock and within another couple of weeks I received it, serviced and "re-motored". What a wonderful result. It arrived, looking like new and it was like getting something from a manufacturer it looked just so new. Now, I know it isn't, but that's how it looked.

 

I AM SO SO DELIGHTED. It is now working comfortable away and looking brilliant. I'd had no sleepless nights about either the purchase or the work on it.

My Golden Hour Clock was received by my grandfather and father from Chevrolet Motor Division as a reward for a sales campaign in 1953.  The clock sat in my grandfather’s apartment for twenty-seven years until he moved into a nursing home, then it sat on the mantle in my dad and mom’s house.  It never missed a lick in over fifty years.  My father died ten years ago and a couple of years ago, the clock stopped working.  I took it apart, did several adjustments, cleaned it, and even replaced the motor – all to no avail.  It might run for a few minutes, but would bind and stop.  The last go-around, I ended up bending the motor shaft.  I was concerned because of the history of this item.  Then I found CLOCKODILE on eBay and decided to have the clock fixed as a Christmas gift for my mom.  He fixed the clock quickly and had it back to me before Christmas.  My mom was happy with the gift and the clock is now back on the mantle running nicely.

It was such a leap of faith...but one that really paid off. Sent two Golden Hour clocks from Zurich, Switzerland. Both had been banished to the cellar when I moved here from Canada 25 years ago. Both required new motors (for Europe), new wiring, a new glass for one of them and a general overhaul. There was excellent email communication all along the way which definitely eased my worries. They have been returned to me in all their original glory and they are both working perfectly. The joy! To summarize: Very friendly communication, absolutely fair pricing and truly the work of masters. Thanks so much.
