USA Steinberger GLB 2S Headless Guitar 2002 Graphite neck / Sold by MusicYo.com / Made by Gibson (S-TREM)

MADE IN THE USA

This guitar is VERY, VERY, VERY, RARE! Any serious collector would love to have this gem. There is a lot of confusion and controversy regarding the Steinberger guitars from this period, but this model and this COLOR were by FAR the most sought-after and the hardest to get. The less popular white-colored version recently sold for $2500. Once this model was announced in 2002, and it was confirmed that it would be made in the USA, there was an enormous waiting list. This guitar was pre-purchased and it still took over a year to receive it.

We had to do a lot of homework to get the details on this one. We purchased this guitar brand new from MusicYo.com in December of 2002 and it arrived in 2003.

As anyone who is familiar with MusicYo knows, it is no longer an online wholesale outlet for the Steinberger brand. In fact, it was a test by Gibson to see if they could do retail distribution online, including Steinberger, Kramer, Tobias, and a few other brands Gibson owned, but were not always available at retail. Steinberger eventually went back to retail (for example the Synapse line), but this is a cross between the original all-graphite model and the current wood model (graphite neck and wood body). The GLB 2S is modeled after the original GL body style (which sells anywhere from $7-9K nowadays), but with a hard maple body and the same type of M/S Steinberger blend composite neck used since Music Yo started up the sales of Steinbergers in 2002.
