A beautifully crafted piece of enamel ware of fine shape, proportion and colour circa 1880.

Enamel ware of this quality, condition and age, is becoming increasing hard to find. This pot is in completely original condition complete with lid and would have been an expensive item when made not only because of the artistry in the applied decoration of wild flowers to the body, lid and spout but also the process of having to be double fired to achieve this object of pure delight. The v cut to the tip of spout is indicative of a date to c1880. A versatile piece of art that can simply be enjoyed for what it is or as a displaying vessel for other things such as cut or dried flowers. Obviously there is some age related wear, patches of light staining and loss of enamel, which is clearly shown in the pictures. However the pot remains water tight and free of dents so you could of course use the pot for its original use. After the appropriate cleaning. Collection in person welcome should you prefer.
