Vintage Arts & Crafts Style Door Set w/Knobs, Plates, Lock, & Keys

Handsome, vintage, exterior door lockset salvaged from Northeastern Pennsylvania. It consists of 2 steel knobs, 2 steel escutcheons, 1 steel mortise lock w/brass latches and buttons, 1 steel strike plate for the door jamb, 2 brass cylinder mortises w/2 keys, and 1 split spindle with 2 setscrews to connect the knobs.

We found the set without any cylinder mortises, so we included 2 new cylinders, both keyed alike, and with 2 keys. Since they are new, they operate smoothly, without any issues.

At the point of salvage, all parts were dirty and rusty (see last photo). Since then, we've cleaned and polished all parts to the best of our ability.

The set is in great condition with no breaks, cracks, chips, dents, or deep scratches.

About the lock:
The lock is reversible and could accommodate the swing of any door.

The latch acts as both a passage latch and deadbolt latch. Unless "locked" with a key or by turning the thumbturn on the interior escutcheon, the latch will retract anytime either knob is turned. Once locked, the latch could only retract and allow the door to open by turning the knob on the interior side of the door, or by using the key on the exterior side of the door. This is a very convenient feature for the person inside of the room. No more locking and unlocking to let someone in. Simply turn the knob, open the door, let someone in, close the door and it's already locked.

The lock was opened, inspected, and we sprayed grease on and around all internal parts to facilitate their movement. The locks operate smoothly and are ready for another lifetime of service.
