For auction here is my 2000 (W Reg) Freelander 1.8 petrol XEi. I bought this in June off a friend to use as a daily runabout when I started as Self Employed and it’s a duty its fulfilled admirably! Taxed until end November 2011 and MOT until 23rd July 2012 so insure & go!  I’m only selling because much as I love it, being 6’6” tall and rather portly, it’s just not big enough for me and is flaring up an old back problem due to insufficient leg room so its back to a Mondeo for me.

The Freelander is in good condition generally and I have listed any points I think are notable below. The engine had its head gasket done by the previous owner and there are no overheating issues at all. It’s hauled my bulk up to work & back on a 70 mile round trip every day without the needle so much as moving from normal. I replaced the air box with a performance air filter to get a bit more out of the engine which works fine (original box included in the sale). I converted it to 2 wheel drive due to the two prop bearings being worn and vibrating on drive. This stopped as soon as it was removed so there should be no problems with the IRD unit. I never bothered converting it back because the car was so much quicker without 4WD and returns between 36 to 40 MPG on my daily runs!!!

Resume of the Freelander below. Its quite detailed as I’m being totally honest. Its a cracking motor in perfect usable condition but want to ensure the buyer knows as much as I know about it. 89100 miles at the time of listing but this will go up as its still in daily use until sold. No service history available.

Interior

Full leather interiors with no rips or tears just some cracking on the side of the drivers seat as shown. Theres a few minor scratches on the dash and the leather cover is missing off the gear knob. Despite this the interior is in good condition for its age. I retro fitted a later centre console for additional storage but have not wired the window switches in (original switches still remain and work). I will include the original console in the sale in case the winning bidder wishes to convert it back. Full set of floor footwell mats with no holes. Retro fitted Land Rover single CD player in place of the old Tape player. Sun Roof is electric and works as it should but the frame holding the glass is badly corroded but it’s not leaking. These are available from breakers and is a simple matter of undoing 6 small bolts to replace. Its never bothered me as I just draw the roof blind over anyway. Hand free Bluetooth Bury car kit (cradle not included).  Roller blind fitted to the boot (umbrella’s not included!) Rear door does not leak so no swimming pool in the security box. Colour has worn off on the leather steering wheel at the top. Air conditioning works as it should and blows cold. Hill descent control functions as it should.

External/Mechanical

Fully serviced by my mate who works for a Land Rover garage inc all oils & filters etc. New performance HT leads & Plugs, Hi flow air filter, new exhaust by previous owner and new CAT fitted for MOT by me. Had all four corner brake pipes replaced by the garage for the MOT. All tyres have 5 to 6mm tread and are in good condition as are all the alloys (locking wheelnuts included) the spare tyre is just above the wear bars. Paint has faded in the odd place and there are a few shopping trolley dents here & there. The only corrosion such as it is really, is a bit of surface rust on the front passenger door skin bottom (very minor) and the worst patch is as shown in the pictures on the bottom corner of the rear passenger door where its obviously been opened onto something, and not treated. Again this has never bothered me and causes no problems so not done anything with it. All central locking works on all doors as it should via the remote blip (one blip & one key only) but the rear passenger door handle occasionally sticks and requires a second tug to open. All windows work as they should (front electric, rear manual, tailgate automatic) however the tailgate glass when dropping fully squeaks so may need the runners greasing. Converted to two wheel drive but prop included in the sale. Prop requires rubber boot and two new bearings to re-use. New hand brake cables fitted and a brand new in tank fuel pump fitted. New clutch master & slave cylinders fitted. Gears operate as they should but you occasionally get a crunch going into reverse if the change is too quick. Its happened on every manual Freelander I’ve ever had and you soon get used to it. The other common item is a wind whistle around the door mirrors at motorway speeds which is just noticeable. It can be got around by fitting later door mirrors but never really bothered me. The glass motor on the drivers door mirror is intermittant but does push into place easily by hand. The passenger motor was a new unit.

Sorry the descriptions a bit War & Peace but the Freelanders worth it as its a great daily runner and even served us well on a weeks tour of the Lake District last month.
