This is a much sought after late production Barker & Son  precision small craft sextant.  I have used this sextant for sights and found it to be very accurate.  The sextant is complete and works beautifully.  Included are two built in sun filters operated by external levers (shown), the small removable adjustment key (also shown) and in addition to the clear pinhole sight, there is an additional dark green sight (shade, as they are more properly called) mounted on the side for low altitude sun sights when harsh glare on the horizon is present.  In one photo the clear pinhole sight is removed and one can see one of the internal lever-operated filters in place.

The scale appears to be a matt clear anodized finish, but it could be stainless, as it resembles the matt finish on some of my good stainless machine tools.  The vernier scale on the index arm is of the same finish, and the magnifier to read it is clear and easy to use.

The key adjusts the index error, which I have down to almost zero, and I have done sights which were within a mile of my true position with this sextant.  Anyone who knows celestial navigation knows this is very good and comparable to the larger sextants.

The index arm has both a fast and slow speed which makes it very accurate when taking sights.

The original box is included along with the directions pamphlet which came with it when it was new.

This sextant is not a toy or a reproduction, but a serious instrument, and one of the last of it's kind.
