These rigs were produced to compete with Gonset's Mobile Twins and Multi-Eimac Units which were head and shoulders above anything, including Morrow Corp. From this effort came the HG-10 VFO, a stand-alone outboard VFO unit for the DX-60 and previous Heath Entry level transmitters. The Transmitter (MT-1) used control-carrier modulation to get away from the heavy Modulation Transformers of the day. The "Drifting and Stability" Problems were legendary. Caused by very poor voltage regulation. Their useful Appearance on the Ham Stage was brief - About five (5) years duration. Circa 1958 - 1962 They were succeeded by the SSB/CW HX series by Heath in the early to mid Sixties. They were tough rigs. Lots of them still around. They only operated AM and CW.
