Through the years, whistles have evolved into an important element of traditional Brazilian Samba.
Their unique and versatile musical voice has helped to shape the definitive musical sound and style commonly known today as "Latin" music. Most interestingly, Samba whistles, many with triple tones and intricate rhythmic possibilities, have become a standard piece on the performing percussionists table. Mine is authentic, handcrafted by Brazilian artisans, offering the very best in traditional Samba whistle design and tone. Solitary Tinamou Samba Whistle emulates the Genus Tinamus from the Fingilidae family.....a bird whose size equals a Hen's. It is very wild and one of its 5 different species. The males in general sing Flat and Quick. The females have a full long call. They answer the call in the months of August Through November initiating with short spaced calls. While waiting for an answer The Cricket , ie , Whistle #6 is used to attract other birds.....then the call is made to emulate a sort of cry/weep call by using Whistle Calls #20 or #29


 Position the part with the largest orifice towards the mouth. Begin chirping the male bird call with 2 or 3 short “dry” blows. Make sure to wait some time between each blow. Wait a few minutes and chirp the female call with a blow that is a little bit longer and more melancholic. It’s done this way to make the males in the surrounding area jealous. After, chirp longer so that you may begin the crying call. To reproduce the crying call it is necessary to compress and sufficiently moisten the throat with saliva. After, breathe out air whilst “breaking” it against the throat. This process may be a little difficult, but with practice, anybody can do it.
