Ready to take your Excalibur to a tropical paradise?

This brand new Carbon Fiber 3 piece 42" straight shaft is perfect for packing in your suitcase!  The Upper shaft is about 18" long, the lower Shaft is about 18" long (only 15" when inserted in the upper shaft) and the Control Pod Extension is only 9" long.  Very easy to pack, along with your Excal in a normal suit case.  This shaft will allow you to hunt with the Control pods behind your elbow for terrific balance! The two longer shaft pieces can also be used as a hip mount shaft.      Note:  the stock blue "S" rod is only 27" long.

The best way to determine the proper length shaft for you is to use a long broom handle or piece of pvc sprinkler pipe and pretend it is your detector shaft. Put one end on the floor where you think the coil should be for your normal hunting position while holding the handle against your arm and simply measure from the back of your elbow to the end of the handle on the floor. Remember: this measurement also includes the coil rod that came with your detector so you will have to subtract about 20 inches from the overall measurement.  This number will be the minimum length of shaft you will need.  Example:  the measurement was 47" minus 20" = 27" (27" is exactly what the stock Excalibur "S" shaped shaft is). 27" is the minimum length shaft you need.  A 39" shaft minus 9" behind the elbow for mounting the pods leaves 30" and my 42" shaft minus 9" = 33". Plenty of room for adjustments. I am 5'-11" tall and my shaft length is 48" overall minus the 20" for the coil rod that leaves 28" from the back of my elbow.  The 39" shaft gives me 30" so I can shorten the coil rod another 2" or so.  The 42" rod would allow me to shorten the coil rod another 5".  If you are under 6', the 39" shaft is probably right for you and if you are 6' and taller, the 42" shaft will suit you better.  I  will custom build any length you like.

Note: the picture shows my new "Shaft Lock" and field trials have shown it to be superior to the Minelab Twist Locks on securing the coil rod and reducing the possibility of it "freezing" up inside of the lower shaft due to salt and sand.  As many beach hunters know, the cam used with these twist locks can get "crapped up" by a mixture of salt water and sand and it is almost like glue when it dries out.  because the new shaft lock does not use a cam, there is less chance of the lower rod getting stuck in the lower shaft.  Everyone knows we should clean our equipment after every use, but, do we really? I know, I forget to do it now and then.  At the very least, the rod is easier to remove from the shaft without the sticky cam.

The handle is adjustable and the heavy duty, black, powder coated, aluminum arm cuff comes with a strap and removable pad (pad is reversible and washable).  The 2 stainless steel bolts that attach the arm cuff to the shaft also hold the extension in place when you are using the Excal on the shaft (very solid setup).

Available in either a "Glossy" (pictured) or Matte (flat black) finish.
