"An Army of Marksmen: The Development of United States Army Marksmanship in the 19th Century" is a 94 page, 6"x9" softcover written by Douglas C. McChristian and published in 1981 by The Old Army Press (Fort Collins, CO). It's inscribed and signed by the author on the title page.

From the back cover: "An Army of Marksmen documents the United States Army's efforts to develop individual marksmanship by U.S. soldiers. This book covers the regulations, special awards, weapons, and the officers who promoted the ideal of marksmanship. Covering the critical period from the Civil War to the turn of the century, An Army of Marksmen details the process that resulted in the superiority of the American soldiers' remarkable accuracy with small arms."

The book is in very good condition, with rubbing to the cover and an ownership mark on the half-title page being the only notable flaws.
