You can leave it almost anywhere without suspicion as it does not look like a voice recorder. The Micronic UMVR5 is simple to use with a simple on/off slide switch to start/stop recording. It connects to any PC via USB lead and charges/downloads from the same USB lead. You can also listen to your recordings or MP3 music files from this tiny device storing up to 96 hours of audio on 8GB fixed memory. We test all our products in real life for weeks before adding to our range. Micronic007 gave this the thumbs up as a real practical and reliable voice recorder. Below are the results of the micronic007 testing of the UMVR5.....
The recorder is small 45mm x 30mm x 8mm and very light weighing only 5 grams. After charging the recorder for a few hours micronic put it to test. By sliding on/off switch into record a red light is seen inside recorder and flashes before turning off to confirm recording mode. The first recording was over 8 hours long and immediately put back into record for another 8 hours until it would not work any longer. When the battery is flat it indicated by a single flash when you switch it on to record. After 5 x 8 hour test recordings it recorded a total of 30 hours on 5 files in a single charge. Connected to PC, 4 x 8 hour files and a 6hr long file in WAV format at 192Kbps bit rate. Each file named by the recording time/date start time. Test recordings of conversations in different situations both indoors and outdoors. In a car, walking in street or on public transport with the recorder out in the open or hidden away in pocket or holdall. The microphone is impressive in all micronic tests and the sound quality at 192Kbps is very good. Some tests had a background hiss when in silence or no noise existed to actually record. It could only be heard when playback volume is up high and sound / noise levels recorded were low. Some tests were fantastic and found it worked even better in the more difficult tests we made. This recorder worked well in every test done thriving in the most extreme tests. The most extreme had music playing in a crowded room with the recorder inside a zipped up purse in a handbag. The results were good and we could still make out the conversations we had in that environment. Comes with USB headphones you can play back the recordings or play music with simple on/off play back and skip file / volume +/- control. Overall opinion is excellent - The Micronic UMVR5 is easy to use, a solid well made item, 30 hours use on battery, sensitive microphone, good quality sound.
