A stunning large very old Chong dZi displaying four stripes. Blood spots can also be seen under magnification. This  is most associated with the Himalayan regions and Tibet. Tibetans value this type more than the other decorated agates that were traded to Tibet from India in ancient times. The colour of the agate material, bead size and style of the decoration is clearly of a different quality to the Indian decorated agates. This may well suggest that there was a bead making industry unique to the Himalayan regions and distinct from other known bead making industries like we find in Burma.
