Our TurboGemini electronic ignition kits use a hall effect sensor to replace your old points style ignition.  They replace your contact points & condenser for better performance & maintenance free reliability.
 
No more replacing & adjusting points as they burn & wear, or the condenser if it blows.  These units have the ignition module built into the sensor, so they are only a two wire connection, one wire to each side of the ignition coil.  It's that simple! 

 

 

Hall Effect sensor The hall effect sensor also allows for optimum dwell angle which lets your ignition coil charge for the max amount of time, giving you the biggest spark possible, increasing burn efficiency of the air/fuel mixture.  This means more power, or less fuel used, depending on how you drive.  This sensor is used instead of the old style points, and no adjustment is required..... ever.  Also because the points are removed, there is no need to run a condenser, removing another point of maintenance and failure.

 

You can adjust points to get good performance, but as soon as they do any work (as soon as you drive around the block a few times) the performance changes as the parts wear and the contact plates burn.  With points, your dwell and timing will drift and you'll lose engine efficiency and power.   In summary:

100% Brand New with 2 year warranty You're getting completely new parts backed by a 2 year replacement warranty.   There are other similar products out there, but we've developed this unit because we've used the others and were not happy with them.  We've used Pertronix ignitors before and they haven't had the life expectancy we were expecting.  We went through two in three years.

 

 

Installation – When I fitted one of these to our dyno mule engine, I was wrapped, it fired up straight away and ran smoothly, revved crisply and drove with more throttle resposne and felt gruntier.  It is one of the easiest and cost effective upgrades you can make.  The engine was instantly more responsive and felt more powerful.  Installation is very easy. 

 

They simply replace the points with a two wire hookup.  Unlike other electronic distributors, the ignition module is built into the sensor unit, so there is nothing else to wire up. 

 

NOTE: Primary resistance of ignition coil (measured across +ve and -ve sides of coil) must be minimum 1.5ohms.  So you will need access to a multimeter to check this.  So far, we've seen very few coils with a resistance lower than this so it's not really an issue, so it will work fine with stock and most aftermarket coils. 

 

PRE-CHECK - check ignition coil primary resistance with a multimeter - replace if necesary

1 - Remove old points and condenser.
2 - Apply some of the thermal paste to the base of the ignition module
3 - Fit new elecontronic ignition module where points were mounted.
4 - Fit magnetic pickup over distributor shaft.
5 - Slip heat shrink over wires and position in hole in distributor body.
6 - Crimp on electrical terminals and connect black wire to negative side of coil.
7 - Connect red wire to postive side of coil.
8 - Start engine and check/adjust ignition timing with timing light.
9 - Note: Often the ballast resistor needs to be bypassed or removed to allow the module to get a full 12v power supply.  This is a simple procedure and is detailed in our included instructions.
