New and improved, with new thicker, stronger plates. Now supplied with 2x 3mm thick square plates at each end, they will not bend. The plates are 50mm square, so will easily work with an oversized 1.5" headset where the head tube can be in excess of 48mm. Cheaper 50mm penny washer versions of this tool are more likely to bend, and cannot work on a 48mm head tube.

This is a simple home made device to press headset cups into a bike frame. Why spend £40+ on a pro tool you may only use a couple of times? This is a much cheaper alternative tool for the home mechanic, or it will save you from paying a shop to install your cups.

It is suitable for:
1"
1 1/8"
1 1/4" (1.25")
1 1/2" (1.5")

Consists of one threaded bar approximately 30cm long, 2x 17mm nuts, 2x small washers, 4x 3mm thick square plates. Two of the 50mm square plates have felt on one side, which should be placed against the cup and frame, please see pictures. The felt serves two purposes; first it will protect your frame and cups from being damaged during installation, and second it will help to keep the plates centralised when pressing the cup into the frame.

It is recommended that you install one cup at a time. You will need two 17mm spanners. Always hold the plates in place whilst tightening the bolts, making sure they stay centred. Once it starts to grip it will not move around.

Remember this is a DIY tool for occasional use, it is not intended to be used heavily, it is merely an alternative to the old 'block of wood and a hammer' technique.

The head tube plus one cup placed on top can be no longer than 250mm with this bar. If you require a longer bar please let me know.
