This striking linocut engraving was executed for a publication of Femmes Damnees by Charles Baudelaire. It was printed in browns on a natural toned velin bistre from the plates by Emile Bracquemond, sculptor and nephew of the impressionist painter Felix Bracquemond. It is one of a series of nine prints done in a limited edition of 350 copies to accompany the 1946 publication of Baudelaire’s work. It was printed in Paris, the print is not individually numbered or signed. The overall size is 10.25 x 13.325 inch sheet. The image is 7 x 9.25 inches. It has a text block on the reverse. The colors are rich and there is just the slightest bit of age toning.
