15 In. f/5 Brass 8x10 Rapid Portrait Lens



Late 1800’s brass lens. There are no manufacturer’s marks anywhere so I’m not sure who made it. It is probably a Petzval design.


This one is quite large; the overall length including shade is 9”. The diameter is about 4”. 


It says “Rapid Portrait” and “EQ Focus 15 In F-5”. 


Condition is quite good for it’s age. There is some minor balsam separation around the edges of the front lens group (see photo), but it’s well outside of the image circle and would not degrade an image. 


There are the usual dust motes and bubbles.
