This solar spirit quartz specimen features a prominent spiky crystal point, intense golden colour and exceptional, bright iridescence. Due to the lack of treatment used on this crystal, one side has some heavy natural iron overgrowth. These rare limonite spirit quartz specimens - also known as 'solar' or 'citrine' spirit quartz - have intense golden-yellow colouration, are incredibly sparkly and naturally iridescent, displaying beautiful rainbow reflections on their crystal surfaces. In order to retain this iridescence, they are not cleaned in spirits, and so there is often some iron overgrowth coating them.

About Spirit Quartz
Spirit quartz - also known as 'fairy', 'cactus' and 'pineapple' quartz - is formed when a large quartz crystal is encrusted by a secondary overgrowth of smaller crystals, creating a beautiful sparkling druzy appearance, though the tips of the original larger crystal can usually be seen as they often remain uncovered. It is a very unique crystal formation that occurs exclusively in South Africa. Varieties include white, smoky, golden limonite or 'citrine', iridescent 'solar' and amethyst spirit quartz.
