This rare piece of Dragon Kenlock Wear is from our own collection.  It was an experimental line Wedgwood produced from 1895-1900.  It is enamel decorated black basalt.  Designer Christopher Dresser contributed to the designs of Kenlock Wear.  This piece is remarkably decorated with enameled Foo Dogs wrestling and cavorting amid green enameled clouds and banners.  I count seven Foo dogs in total.  They are beautifully painted in blue-green with red, pink white and raw sienna details.  The teapot has the red enamel backstamp.  PLEASE NOTE:  the lid fits somewhat loosely.  It's possible the lid is a period replacement but I think this is a manufacturing flaw given that the lid has identical gorgeous polychrome foo dogs and borders as does the pot.  Also, it has a brass handle that I think is probably a replacement for the original basalt finial.  The handle of the pot has been reset ( a reasonably good job). There is a small repair to the rim of the teapot and the tip of the spout is repaired, again, a fairly good job (please see all photos).  The overall height of the teapot is 4.75" and the pot is 8.25" from handle to spout.
