Designed by Torbjorn Afdal in 1960, this teak construction is a versatile piece of mid century furniture. Sturdy enough for use as an everyday bench, it also has the perfect size and proportions to be used as a coffee table as well. The bench top is made from a honey-colored teak veneer on a heavy plank of beech, flanked with teak trim on the sides. Steel straps firmly anchor the plank to the legs, creating a piece of furniture built like a tank.

While Danish Modern in design, it was manufactured in Norway for Bruksbo by Mellemstrands Trevareindustri, and still retains the maker’s labels on the underside. At 5’ long, it is the middle-length version of this design (also made in 4’ and 6’ lengths, although I do not have those lengths myself). The bench is 13" tall and 14.5" deep.

As can be seen in the photos, the bench is in very good condition, with only a minor thumbnail-sized worn area to the oiled finish on the bench surface.

If you are interested in buying this bench, please let me know and I can send additional closeup photos that will give you a better understanding of its condition. It is always best for both buyer and seller to clear up any condition questions before items are purchased, especially when the buyer cannot view the pieces firsthand.

Shipping price not included. Please contact me about shipping options before buying. I have had good experience with shipping small to medium furniture pieces via Greyhound, and can get a custom quote for your location. Alternately, buyers are certainly welcome to arrange their own shipping, and I will do my best to work with your shipper. Local pickup is always welcome.
