Demitasse Saucer
Being offered on this auction is decorative Demitasse Saucer made by Herend, Hungary. Pattern is called ‘Vieille (Old) Rose de Herend’.
I have 3 of these beautiful saucers available. This listing is for ONE.
Collectors also often called it ‘Vienna Rose’. It features beautiful rose, green parsley leafs and green outline over white background. This piece has gorgeous ‘Osier’ scalloped shape with basket weave rim. Backsides of the piece is marked with standard Herend blue mark used since 1949. Other marking is mold number 1728/VRH and 95 written on blue on the saucer as well as ‘Herend’.
‘Vieille Rose de Herend’ decoration is an example of the Biedermeier style. It is done with civic charm and subdued elegance. Wavy rim of these porcelains with a snow-white background is framed with narrower and wider green bands. There are tiny parsley leaves on the border between the bands. The center is decorated with red-stemmed blossom rose painted with semi-transparent brushstrokes and surrounded by tiny parsley motives. This pattern brings the atmosphere of civic homes of 19th century with their striped wallpapers, furniture and fine lace covers. It is the customer favorite even today by virtue of its gentleness and modesty. Saucer is 4 ½” in diameter and 7/8” deep. Condition is immaculate with no cracks or chips found. Colors are bright and vibrant. Please take a look at the pictures and Zoom for a closer look.
Thanks for looking.
