WHITE STAR LINE - SILVER PLATED SUGAR BOWL BY ELKINGTON PLATE - TITANIC ERA.  A beautiful early 20th century, Titanic era, Elkington Plate White Star Line silver plated Sugar bowl (or possibly Salt bowl), featuring raised star patterns along the top perimeter design and the Elkington Plate manufacturers mark and registration number 580407 clearly visible on the reverse.  A White Star Line flag logo that was once present on the side of the bowl has been removed (see 3rd photo) and there has been an attempt to strike out the deeply engraved words "WHITE STAR LINE" from the bottom of this bowl; however, many letters of the name - especially in the words "White" and "Line" are still quite visible if one carefully studies the engraved pattern (see the closeup image in the last photo of this description).  Apparently, in the immediate aftermath of the Titanic disaster and for some number of years thereafter; there was a great deal of public anger and outrage with the White Star Line company, and people actually defaced their privately owned cruise ship silverware / mementos to obliterate the White Star Line brand markings!  This piece thus exhibits such history; but the recognizable star accented pattern around the top perimeter and the less than completely successful attempt to erase the company name engraved on the reverse allows for the unquestionable identification of this bowl as White Star Line silverware.  This item likely saw service on the sister ships of the Titanic and is in fine condition, given the historical alterations it underwent.  This identical design was used on the Titanic itself and made famous when re-created for the 1997 20th Century Fox James Cameron film "Titanic".  (This item is not a movie prop, but an actual piece of White Star Line silverware that is over 100 years old.)   I have taken the liberty of also listing this piece in the Movie Memorabilia > Props category since it might obviously be of interest to Titanic (1997) collectors.   Truly a beautiful item and a remarkable piece of history, this bowl measures approx. 5 1/8" x 2 7/8" x 1 3/4".
