Rhaetian Railway electric locomotive GE 2/4 for their newly built and at first electrified line in the Engadine between Samedan and Scuol-Tarasp procured the Rhätische Bahn (RhB) 1913 at SLM and BBC in addition to four large class GE 4/6 also seven smaller machines GE 2/4 with paragraphs 201-207 for easier services. The 8.7 m long Rod locos wieselten with up to 45 km/h by the country, had a capacity of 228 kW and weighed 36.7 t. A repulsion motor with double brush set (Déri motor), which is distinguished by a high torque and smooth start-up got the drive. Power transmission was from the motor by helical rods on the Jackshaft and then continue via connecting rods on the two sets of drivers. Three specimens (No. 201, 202 and 206) were rebuilt between 1943 and 1946 to shunting locomotives with a central cab and two stems. Two more changes followed 1945/46 with the goal of achieving a significant performance improvement for use in the line service. The locos 203 (new: 221) and 204 (new: 222) replaced virtually the entire electrical equipment and power transmission. By installing new, speedy single phase Motors the power to 456 could be lifted kW. The drive was achieved on the Jackshaft now with gears and a new transformer provided the driving motor voltage regulated by rear derailleur of levels of cam. The top speed could be set to 55 km/h. In addition, an external magnet DC resistance brake was installed, whose braking resistors built up instead of the second current collector on the roof. By this power and speed increase both engines could be used now to preload services on the pitch-rich Albula line. After the arrival of the strong, six-axle construction machinery GE 6/6 II 701-707 until 1965 were the 221 and 222 after in child (marshalling) services displaced. They were especially in the winter season when the usage of all available locomotives then but often before the so-called "sledging"trains between Preda and Bergün. In addition, they stood and to supply services on the indeed short, but gradient-rich Albula South ramp available. While the GE 2/4 had to resign my Commission 221 in 1998 and was soon scrapped, her sister locomotive has been preserved. It is a historic machine in Landquart and offers a special eye-catcher even today occasionally special trains.
